FAIRBORN – Wright-Patterson Air Force Base will host an Energy Action Month kick-off event 1 p.m. Monday Oct. 5 to raise awareness about energy conservation and highlight one million dollars in rebates from the Dayton Power & Light Company.

The rebate is a result of energy savings initiatives the base has implemented over the past several years, including the “UnPlug It” campaign.

The kick-off will feature music by the Air Force Band of Flight’s Systems Go, displays from various energy vendors, and remarks from Col. John Devillier, commander of the 88th Air Base Wing, and Tom Raga, CEO of DP&L.

“Wright-Patterson Air Force Base is a leader when it comes to the defense of our country, and is taking action to protect the environment by adopting these energy-saving measures base wide,” said DP&L President and CEO Tom Raga. “DP&L is honored to recognize the achievement of $1 million in total energy efficiency rebates.”

“Energy Action Month highlights what we have been doing all year to conserve energy and cut costs,” said Devillier. “We are excited to reach our million dollar rebate from DP&L. For every dollar we save in energy reduction, we can reallocate to other important areas of our mission.”
