BEAVERCREEK –The Mall at Fairfield Commons will provide children with a hands-on healthcare experience when they enjoy the newly renovated soft play equipment thanks to Soin Medical Center.

The soft play area just outside the food court has been remodeled and expanded from 1,000 square feet to 1,400 square feet. A healthcare theme is now the focus of the area, providing elements for children to crawl around and climb on, including an ambulance, a replica of Soin, a stethoscope, a baby bear, alphabet blocks, and a wrist cast.

“Over the years Soin Medical Center has sponsored quite a few of our special events, so the fact the hospital wanted to sponsor the new play area was so fantastic,” said The Mall at Fairfield Commons Marketing Director Kristie Miller. “We mentioned it in passing and they jumped on it.”

“We got involved with this effort, mostly to bring laughter and fun to kids,” said Soin Medical Center Senior Vice President Terry Burns. “But this is an opportunity to reinforce healthy lifestyles – to give children a reason to climb, crawl, and twirl. It is also an opportunity to have health conversations with the moms, dads, grandpas, grandmas and others – while they are taking a rest at the Mall.”

Miller emphasized that because the mall and the hospital are in each other’s back yard, working together is so important for the community.

“We are both growing and changing,” she said. “People recognize Soin and realize they are a top of the line healthcare provider. This was an amazing opportunity for both of us to promote good health and all the elements came together.”

The new play area opened last week. In addition, The Mall at Fairfield Commons will host a grand opening event on Nov. 6 to celebrate its renovated entrance and the addition of several restaurants.

“This play land turned out wonderfully, and it is so fun to see kids enjoying it.” said Miller. “We look forward to our growing partnership in the future.”
