A group of 86 sixth graders recently camped at Glen Helen for four days and three nights. They learned about insects, rocks, streams, birds, snakes, turtles, animal adaptations, water, conservation, and many other environmental topics. All of the learning activities were hands-on: they hiked, found rocks and minerals, and walked in the streams they were learning about; they touched insects, snakes, turtles and birds.
