XENIA — All visitations at the Greene County Jail and Adult Detention Center are canceled.

The Greene County Sheriff’s Office is abiding to Ohio Department of Health Dr. Amy Acton’s March 15 order to restrict access to only those personnel who are absolutely necessary for the operation of facilities in an effort to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. The order applies to jails, community based correctional facilities, halfway houses and detention facilities excluding facilities under the direction or control of the Directors of the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections, the Ohio Department of Youth Services and the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services.

No visitors of any detainee will be admitted to a facility.

“This office is taking steps to allow for the increased use of phones to accommodate families during this order. With the ongoing emergency creating situations which are constantly changing, we anticipate other changes in the future,” Sheriff Gene Fischer said.
