Hobson Freedom Park celebrates expansion

FAIRBORN — Greene County Parks & Trails recently held a ribbon-cutting in celebration of the new dog park facility and other recent additions at Hobson Freedom Park.

Members of local government and other organizations invested in the park were also in attendance including Fairborn Mayor Paul Keller.

The ribbon-cutting was primarily in celebration of the dog park facility that is now open, but the Parks & Trails presentation noted several recent additions to the park, including a cricket field, flush restroom facility, prairie plantings with walking trails, and a full-sized basketball court.

Hobson Freedom Park is a 92-acre public park that was originally used for just soccer fields. As the park grew in popularity and residents expressed a desire for expansion, the Parks & Trails committee slowly began replacing a soccer field with something everyone can enjoy, and that now extends to the canine residents.

Directly following the ribbon-cutting, Greene County Animal Control set loose two of its dogs to try out the working water pump and huge area to run around and play.
