XENIA — City Council’s board, commission, and committee appointments for 2024 were approved at the Jan. 25 council meeting.

Per the rules of council, the council president appoints members to the standing committees of council. According to city staff, the appointments do not require the approval of council.

Economic Development Advisory Committee: Sarah Mays (chair), Levi Dean, and James Crawford (alternate is Faith Sorice).

Finance and Budget Committee: Will Urschel (chair), Ethan Reynolds, and Wes Smith (alternate is Mays).

Legislative Review and Government Affairs Committee: Smith (chair), Mays, Urschel (alternate is Crawford).

Property Management Committee: Dean (chair), Crawford, and Reynolds (alternate is Smith).

Public Safety Committee: Mays (chair), Smith, and Sorice (alternate is Urschel).

Public Service and Utilities Committee: Reynolds (chair), Urschel, and Sorice (alternate is Dean).

At the second council meeting each year, the council president recommends for council approval various board, commission, and committee appointments which are for two years.

Board of Zoning Appeals chair: Crawford.

Planning and Zoning Commission chair: Dean.

Xenia Recreation and Events Commission chair: Mays.

Greene County Career Center’s Health Science Academy Advisory Board: Sorice.

Miami Valley Regional Planning Committee: Mays (alternate is Urschel).

Xenia Community Improvement Corporation: Crawford.

Council also recently appointed Urschel, Reynolds, and Sorice to work with the Xenia Community Schools Board of Education on the Market District initiative.
