XENIA — A new business — an upscale permanent makeup and spray tan studio — is coming to Xenia.

Gem City Glow, 16 S. Detroit Street, will open its doors on Saturday, Sept. 16. An open house and ribbon cutting will start at 4 p.m. and the event — which is free and open to the public — will continue until 7 p.m.

Owner Jaqueline Postiy, and three other artists will be on hand to welcome visitors and give tours of the newly-revised studio, where work has gone on since July. The studio will not only offer permanent makeup and custom spray tans but inkless stretch mark, scar revision, and piercings as well.

There will be giveaways like glitter tattoos by Sparkling Pineapple Face Painting; mini massages by Sierra, the Massage Lady, permanent jewelry by Goldie Linked, personalized cookies from JBA Bakes, chocolate-covered strawberries from Xenia’s own Berries by Marie, and other food and drinks offered.

“We will have door prizes for the first 25 people and there will also be giveaways from Coffee Hub, Mike’s Vintage Dayton, Flower Stop, Xenia Barber Co, Hemp Honey Soaps, Judith Moore with Platinum Black, Celebrity Athletics, and Kaitlin’s Style Society,” said Postiy, who started Gem City Glow out of a small studio in Centerville.

“I used to be an avid tanning booth lover when I was younger and ended up with basal cell carcinoma in my early 20s,” Postiy said. “I still loved getting a healthy glow so I started getting spray tans and immediately knew that was something I wanted to do. Years later, I was finally in a place to move forward with those dreams and became certified in spray tanning, microblading, powder brows, and inkless scar and stretch mark revision.”

Postiy also mentioned that all services booked during the open house will be 25 percent off and all products purchased will be 15 percent off. She sells self tanning foam (the same solution that is used on her spray tans), lotions, sugar scrubs from Hemp Honey Co., and body soaps, bath salts, bath bombs, and lip balm from Badgerface Beauty.

“We’d love to have everyone there to show the hard work and updates we’ve put into our building and to thank everyone for their support,” said Postiy. “We’ve worked hard to make the studio a beautiful space for us and the city to enjoy.”
