XENIA — The Ministry Association of Xenia — formerly the Xenia Area Association of Churches and Ministries — has joined with other area organizations to provide a free Thanksgiving Day meal on Thursday, Nov. 23.

The Schindler Banquet Center on the Athletes in Action campus will once again be the host site for the annual dinner to be held from 11 a.m to 1 p.m.

The event is a collaborative effort between Athletes in Action, the city of Xenia, WGC Golf Course, and the Greene County Community Service Program. The traditional Thanksgiving dinner will include turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, cranberry sauce, dinner rolls, a dessert, and a beverage. Assorted pies such as pumpkin, pecan, peach, apple, and cherry will be served for dessert.

Volunteers will be taking orders and serving the public. Entertainment will feature Bob Colaner on piano.

Shuttles will be provided this year to aid in transporting guests to and from the dinner. Shuttles will run every 30 minutes from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The loop will start north at Nick’s Restaurant, then travel east to Dollar General on East Main, then travel west to Xenia Board of Education, then travel south to the Walter Sellers apartments. Look for the “shuttle stops here” sign at each location.

Meal requests accepted until 12 p.m. on Nov. 21. Delivery meal service to shut-ins will run from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. To request a meal or to volunteer for kitchen support, call contact Amanda Dunaway at [email protected] or 513-646-7883.
